Attaining true high-end performance from in-wall speakers presents a tremendous engineering challenge. While a speaker in a wall may be aesthetically pleasing, acoustically a wall is less than ideal.

There is a continual plethora of very expensive in-wall speaker introductions, each promoting their latest design wizardry; but beyond the hype, they rarely come close to authentic high-end sound.

Well-designed high-end speakers have solid enclosures. Paradigm® Reference enclosures are incredibly rigid and solid, not only controlling unwanted cabinet resonances and colorations but essentially eliminating them. By comparison, a wall is flexible which means uncontrolled resonances and higher distortion bass sounds bloated with poor definition and midrange neutrality, clarity and imaging all suffer.
